CHARLOTTE TILBURY HOLLYWOOD FLAWLESS FILTER REVIEW

Today's post is gonna be about a product that quickly became a staple for me. The Hollywood Flawless Filter by Charlotte Tilbury is not a highlighter, primer or foundation, but a hybrid, which I can sort of compare to MAC Strobe Cream (based on what I've heard about it).

The aim of this product is to give you a healthy youthful glow and basically, as the name suggests, blur imperfections and cast a real life filter on your skin.

I have shade 3. It comes in a 30ml glass bottle like a foundation, but has a large doe foot applicator, which I'm not a fan of to be honest, because it doesn't pick up much product and I can imagine it would be hard to use as I have less left. But that is the only downside. The product keeps the promise of giving the skin a lit from within effect and I absolutely love how multi functional it is.

I use the Hollywood Flawless Filter mainly on no makeup days and it makes my skin look glowy and flawless (when trust me, it isn't naturally). The product has little coverage, so it helps even out the skin tone, but what impressed me most is how it blurs the pores and lasts all day without settling into fine lines.

I also tried using it as a primer under foundation and it gives it that extra glow and smoothness, which is always great, especially for summer, and on top of my foundation as a highlighter/complexion booster, which also works great as it doesn't move the product underneath and smoothens and brightens the skin.

The Hollywood Flawless Filter by Charlotte Tilbury wins the multi functional product game for me and is definitely something you need in your life.

Have you tried it yet?

WHAT MAKES BECCA SO CULT?

The focus of today's post is going to be the brand BECCA Cosmetics. When I hear BECCA, I think of glowy, lit from within makeup, which looks effortless and natural. We're not going to be talking about ultra matte foundations, strong contouring and neon colours, but quite the opposite. So, how does BECCA stay relevant in today's saturated market, when it doesn't offer the widest range of products and trends?

The first thing I'm going to do is review the products I have.

Backlight Priming Filter

This primer came to my attention after I listened to Jacklyn Hill hype it up over and over again, but we're going to be talking more about her later. What made me buy it was the claim of hydrated and lit from within skin, which let's be honest, who doesn't want? I've never been big on primers, because a simple moisturizer has always done the job for me and I can't say that the Backlight Priming Filter is that outstanding either, but what makes me repurchase it is the effortless look it gives my skin. It makes full coverage foundations seem almost natural and really adds a glow, which makes me look healthy and luminous. That being said, the target customer is limited due to the fact that it does not hide pores or smooth out texture, doesn't reduce shine and oil - on the contrary, it enhances it, so I can't see anyone with oily or acne prone skin loving it.

Brightening Corrector

This corrector is the newest addition to my growing BECCA collection. The reason behind this purchase were the before and after photos shown on their website, which are really convincing to someone who's always struggled with dark under eye circles. I got the shade Light to Medium (there are only two shades) and started wearing it the moment it arrived. I personally love the coverage and hydration it gives to my under eye area, but again, it does have some downsides. I watched reviews on YouTube to see how other people used it and not all of them were positive. I think the reason behind is that again, I am the target customer, but someone with little to no dark circles wouldn't like it, as it really brightens and highlights the skin. Another thing is that it leaves a really dewy finish, so you have to be careful with how you use it. I have no problem wearing it on its own, because my under eye area is hollow, but if you don't want it that highlighted, you probably have to put another concealer on top and set it with powder.

Pearl and Champagne Pop Highlighters

Now we're talking - the product that really put BECCA on the map - the highlighters.
Since the rise of social media and its influencers, brands have become more aware and smarter in their advertising, which is a natural way to adapt to the market. BECCA made a really smart move by collaborating with one of the biggest beauty influencers, Jacklyn Hill (seems like everything she touches turns to gold, e.g. the Morphe palette too). I have to be honest, I hadn't even heard of the brand until I saw the blinding warm gold highlighter, which became an instant hit. The reason why everyone loves it is because it is in fact an amazing quality product, but also because of the name behind it. As you can see, mine had a major accident, which left a little crack in my heart too, but I managed to put it together and still use it to this day.

The other shade I have is Pearl, which is a true white. I don't use it as much, even though it's equally as blinding, because it's too light for me (don't ask me why I got it in the first place), but I still think it's a great item in my collection.

Even Aria loves Champagne Pop.

Other products that BECCA has include eyeshadow palettes, lip glosses, blushes, different forms of highlighters, concealers, powders and bronzers, which as you can imagine all aim to give you a flawless, but natural look. I'm not calling BECCA boring or a one trick pony, but compared to other brands on the market, which seem to put out hundreds of different products each year to cater to all sorts of clients and trends, this brand keeps it simple. So, what's the selling point?
I think we can all agree that throughout the changes and trends in makeup, a radiant natural look will always preservere and be something that people want to have. Another advantage is that when you have less products, you can really focus on perfecting them and giving people the quality they expect for the price. I'd say that BECCA is fairly secure, compared to Benefit and Too Faced for example, which have a lot of hit or miss products.

BECCA is also a cruelty free brand and a lot of its products are vegan, which is definitely something that influences customers. At the end of the day, it's really up to you to decide if the products would be suitable for you and if the price is justified. I have only had good experience with BECCA, so you have my thumbs up.

So, what really makes BECCA cult?
A simplistic approach and luxurious products. Promising a look that's classic and always relevant. Smart business moves in collaborating with influencers. Delivering high quality. Keeping its clients by being true to its concept and luring new ones in by releasing easy to use effortless looking products.
Sounds like a formula for success, right?

HUDA BEAUTY LIQUID LIPSTICKS REVIEW

It may seem like I'm buying everything Huda Beauty these days and honestly I kind of am. I go through these phases, where I'm obsessed with different brands and at the moment that's Huda Beauty. I've been using her liquid lipsticks for months and today I wanna share my thoughts on them.
~

I have the colours Sugar Mama, Bombshell and Trendsetter. The former is from the Nude Love collection and the others are from the original launch. The packaging is gorgeous and at this point iconic - all the lipsticks come in a plastic box with Huda's lips and the bottle is mattified glass.
~

High Heels

As you can see, all of them are shades of nude, which isn't really surprising. I wear mostly nude lipstick and considering the price point, it's wiser to invest in something you know you'll get a lot of wear out of.
~

The applicator is the standard doe-foot and it's easy to use. Usually a lot of lipstick comes off on it and I even wipe some of it off, because I need a small amount on my lips.
~

The swatches are Sugar Mama - Bombshell - Trendsetter top to bottom. They're all very wearable, but Trendsetter looks a bit more like a 90s warm brown on my skin tone.
~

What I love most about these lipsticks is the formula. It dries down fully matte, but I would describe it as a comfortable velvetty matte, which doesn't make your lips crusty and flaky. One thing I've noticed is, it takes quite a bit longer to dry, but that isn't a negative, because you have more time to correct mistakes and achieve a perfect application that way. The only downside is it sometimes gets on my teeth while drying.
~

All in all, as I've mentioned before, the Huda Beauty liquid lipsticks are currently my favourites on the market and I strongly recommend trying them. The price point is a little higher - £18 each, but I think they're worth it.

Have you tried them?
~

CHARLOTTE TILBURY LIGHT WONDER FOUNDATION REVIEW

I don't usually do reviews on separate products, but I decided to give it a go, because this one deserves it. I didn't really need a new foundation, but I went on Cult Beauty and ordered one anyway. I had had my eye on the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder for so long and I'm so glad I got it.
~

Starting from the packaging, it's really pretty, as is anything by Charlotte Tilbury, but it doesn't really feel high end as it should. It's a plastic tube, but I kinda see why it's like that. What's interesting is that when I first received it, it seemed really small to me, but it actually contains 40ml of product, compared to all my other foundations, which are usually 30ml.
~

It has a pointed tip, which makes less product come out at a time, and so it doesn't go to waste, because it does have a quite runny consistency. I take a bit on my fingers and apply it to my face and then blend it with a Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. The coverage is medium, but you can easily build it up and it doesn't go cakey at all. What I love about it is the perfect finish it has - the skin looks glowy and luminous and stays that way throughout the day. I have combination skin with some dry patches and it's exactly the foundation I'd been looking for. I wouldn't recommend it for oily skin types, but for anyone with dry and normal to combination skin, it would be perfect.
~

I have it on here, mixed with a little bit of Double Wear by Estee Lauder for extra coverage and a bit of Champagne Pop by Becca 😁, but you can really see how healthy and flawless my skin looks. I think I may have found my holy grail foundation.
~

The only thing that is a downside is of course the price of 32 pounds, which for me is worth it, but I hope I don't run out anytime soon haha. I would like to know if you've tried it or you have a drugstore alternative for it!
~

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS MODERN RENAISSANCE PALETTE REVIEW

I've finally managed to sit down and write a review on the Modern Renaissance palette by ABH, which I've been using for a few months now and I'm totally in love with. It's the best palette I've ever had, but if you wanna find out why, keep reading!
~

Starting off with the packaging - it comes in a cardboard container and the outside is suede and smooth, which is one of the few downsides, because it gets dirty and stained very easily. Other than that, I think it's quite pretty and convenient.
~

It also includes a brush, which I actually like, especially the fluffy side - it does a great job at blending. It's obviously not enough to do a complete eye look, but when you're travelling it could come in handy.
~

Now onto the eyeshadow itself. The Modern Renaissance palette has 14 colours altogether, half of which completely matte. The others are shimmery, but some have more glitter than others. The first thing you notice when you look at it are the gorgeous pink and red shades, which could be intimidating to some people, but I think they're currently very on trend and you could apply them subtly.
~

I'm not going to go in depth about all the individual shades, because we're gonna be here until tomorrow, so I'm just gonna give you my thoughts. As you can see, they're extremely opaque (apart from Tempera, which is the same as my skin tone, but it would look great on darker skin). They are smooth and buttery, blend like a dream and last all day. They're even hard to remove. I usually use a base underneath, but you can definitely get away without one, as they're that pigmented. The ones I use the most (probably every time) are Raw Sienna and Burnt Orange - they're great for the crease, Tempera as a base, sometimes Buon Fresco or Warm Taupe and the shimmers - Vermeer and Primavera.
~

I love the wide range of colours you get with this palette, and even though there isn't a matte black shade, which most palettes have, I don't think it's really needed. You can definitely create lots of different looks using it and I'm seriously impressed, because I can't find many faults with it.
~

I got mine on Cult Beauty, but it's sold out most of the time, so you have to join the waitlist if you really want it. For the price of 41 pounds it's definitely not the cheapest, but it's close to the Urban Decay Naked palettes. If you're wondering which to get, I'd go for this one.

Have you tried it and do you love it as much as I do?
~
